Walk, Jog, Run

May 8th, 2007 |  Published in Uncategorized  |  2 Comments

I’ve seen several websites that offer many of the same features, but I think WalkJogRun is my favorite yet because it’s so very simple. It’s a mashup using Google Maps to plan running routes and to calculate distance, speed and calories. The search for addresses by zip/post code works only for the US and UK, but you can use the site for planning routes in other countries as well, as Google Maps displays the whole world, of course.

Creating routes on the map is easy, and naturally you can save them for yourself and other users. Routes can be exported to Google Earth as well as to a GPX file to be viewed on your GPS device. A very handy, quick and easy site to use especially if you don’t own Nike+iPod or a similar solution, but just a pair of standard running shoes. ;)
