Mapping the Earth

Google Maps has introduced a neat new feature called Click-to-call, which enables you to call a business you’ve found on the map – apparently for free. Simply click the “call” link and enter your phone number to be connected. Both local and long distance charges are covered, but the service works only in the US and Canada.
For those of you who are map freaks (like I am), Google Sightseeing is a great blog. Each weekday the blog introduces new weird and wonderful sights found in satellite images on Google Maps suggested by the site’s reader community. Have a look at this giant carnival guy in Milwaukee, for instance, or these scribblings in Afghanistan. And if that isn’t enough to quench your thirst for all things Google Maps, check out Google Maps Mania.
